Emergency Operations and Recovery Plan
As protected as our students are within the boundaries of our school, the real world still looms large just outside our gates. In our 50+ year history we have never had to evacuate our campus for any reason; however, for us to assume that we are beyond harms reach would be misguided judgment on our part, and an irresponsible act towards our children. Because we realize that anything is possible, we have developed an Emergency Operations and Recovery Plan to be executed in the event of any incident that might make remaining on campus a danger to our students.
We categorize possible emergencies that may cause a precautionary evacuation of our campus in to two types: Nuclear and Non-Nuclear.
Evacuation (Nuclear)
Because we are within the Emergency Planning Zone of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), we have planned for the possibility of a Nuclear Emergency Evacuation. This plan calls for the precautionary evacuation of students to the federally designated evacuation center at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

Evacuation (Non-Nuclear)
A more likely situation requiring a campus evacuation would be a fire in the adjacent hills or a toxic spill on the nearby Interstate Highway. These types of events are unpredictable; and as a result, our plan for evacuation, or sometimes non-evacuation, needs to be more fluid. In these situations, we have two local facilities that are available to us: La Cristianita Preschool in San Clemente and Saddleback Valley Christian School in San Juan Capistrano.

Campus Lockdown
There is also the possibility that events on or near school grounds may require us to lockdown our students on campus to ensure their safety. During such an event, no one will be allowed in or out of the school; so, please do not come to the campus during a lockdown. Information will be available via one or more of the communication channels listed below.
Note: In the event of a campus lockdown or a precautionary evacuation of any cause, please DO NOT come to the school looking to pickup your child. The convergence of parents trying to get to the school while we are trying to evacuate students away from the school or while police and EMS are trying to reach the school will only delay the evacuation and/or response process for all, and put students [and yourself] in more danger. Please wait for officicial school instructions on when and where it is safe to collect your child.
