Second Grade B

Rachel Habermann

Welcome to Second Grade!

This year we will expand our reading and comprehension skills with many fun stories like Mr. Popper’s Penguins and James and the Giant Peach. We will also improve our writing which we will learn as a process. In math, we will focus on addition, subtraction, time, measurement, and place value. At the end of the year, we will even begin learning the basics of multiplication. We will study God’s word through the lessons in the Old and New Testaments. Science will have many fun units like oceans and penguins, and we will travel back in time in our Social Studies lessons.

Students will use the website to occasionally complete math games for homework. Otherwise, the website is a great home resource where you can view everything students are learning in class.

Reading- please encourage your student to read 90 minutes a week. You can look up Accelerated Reader (AR) books online.

Check every Friday for a copy of the “Habermann Highlights” newsletter. The newsletter contains our class news, any special reminders, weekly spelling, Bible memory verses, and homework. Homework is due on Friday.

Please view the Back to School Night Packet to learn more about second grade and your child’s class.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year!
