May Highlights

Bible: The character trait for the month is perseverance. In the Bible curriculum students are studying why Jesus had to come to earth. Students will be writing a diamante about Jesus too. Further studies this month will address the Lord’s Prayer.

Reading and Language Arts: Students continue researching and writing about endangered species. Four paragraphs should be complete by the end of the second week in May. In reading, students are enjoying a literature unit on Charlotte’s Web.

Math: Measurement continues in May with metric, followed by area, perimeter, and volume. Toward the end of the month decimals will be introduced.

Science: Once the solar system study is concluded, the new unit of investigation will be energy.

Social Studies: Third graders will begin to visit westward expansion, the Great Migration, and growth of the US today.

Homework: Continue practicing multiplication and division. Follow the Thomas Times for success in homework.

Reminder: Keep up with AR testing during the quarter to avoid the end of the quarter crunch.
